Pow Tales are designed with the advanced and expert skier in mind. Why? Because advanced and expert skiers want 3 things in a set of powder cords.
They need to be very easy to attach and detach.
They need to be ready to attach whenever there is over a foot of fresh snow and not in your gear bag or home in your closet.
On that rare occasion when you do take a fall, they need to deploy and detach from your boot(s) seamlessly and mark the location of your ski in a highly visible way.
Pow Tales accomplish these goals and much more. This simple but elegant ski retrieval system install and live full time on your ski boots, so you can't leave home without them. It only takes about 10 seconds to engage them by attaching the bungee cord that is incorporated into your heel binding piece with the carabiner that is part of our safe and effective Velcro and ribbon “flag” design. When you hit something under the powder that blows off your ski (we never fall for any other reason, right?) the bungee cord stretches until sufficient force is exerted to detach the Pull Tab from its Retainer. The attached carabiner will follow as a secondary release from its cozy home in the Velcro sandwich installed on your boot. The bungee cord acts as a shock absorber while releasing the Pull Tab and carabiner, and when the carabiner comes free it pulls over 6 feet of bright orange and very strong ribbon from the Velcro sheath. As the last of the ribbon escapes it pulls the attached (loop) Velcro off the boot entirely. The Velcro “flag” end is now a mechanism for keeping the tail end of the ribbon up on or very near the surface of the snow where it can easily be seen and retrieved along with your ski. And the story doesn’t end there. You can easily reset your Pow Tale(s) onto your boot (See the Quick and Dirty Reset video) in less than a minute, re-engage your Pull Tab and carabiner, and be skiing powder again almost as if that fall hadn’t ever happened. Pow Tales also now ship with 2 bungee cord Pull Tabs and 4 Pull Tab Retainers. The Pull Tabs are configured to engage Retainer "spots" located near the top rear of your boots and in close proximity to the bungee cord/carabiners. This Retainer location creates a stand-by mode, and makes it nearly effortless to attach or detach your Pow Tales system. The second set of Pull Tab Retainers are located on your skis behind the heel bindings. This allows you to secure and streamline your bungee cord when it is not engaged with the Pow Tales system. Search Engine Foolishness... The experts tell me that the more I use key words like powder cords, powder ribbons, powder leashes, etc., the better, because the search engines think that the website with the most keywords is the best website to go to for that product. Well, this is the best website to get the most innovative powder cords you can find, but you can quit reading right here. This fine print is just for the search engines anyway. Pow Tales were developed because the old style powder ribbons (powder cords, and powder leashes) just didn't cut it. They were a study in frustration. Shoving wet cold powder cords up your pant legs, only to have them unravel while your skiing, or snarl in a knot if you did fall is a thing of the past. Pow Tales will change your attitude about powder cords from "what a PITA" to "what a great idea".
